AM I ELIGABLE TO JOIN?
To become a member of "Environmental Writers of Australia," applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Residency
- Must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident.
- If not an Australian citizen or permanent resident, must demonstrate a connection to Australia (e.g., through periods of residence, environmental writing about Australian issues, projects created within Australia or featuring Australians, etc.).
2. Writing Experience:
- Must have published at least three pieces of creative work focused on environmental issues within the past two years. These can be articles, essays, blog posts, books, films, videos, new media, or academic papers.
- At least one publication should be verifiable through a reputable third-party publication, either print or online.
3. Commitment to Environmental Issues:
- Must demonstrate a clear commitment to environmental issues, whether through writing, volunteering, advocacy, education, or other forms of engagement.
4. Professional Conduct
- Must agree to abide by the organization's code of ethics, which includes maintaining accuracy in reporting, avoiding conflicts of interest, and respecting copyright and intellectual property laws.
- No history of plagiarism or other unethical writing practices.
5. Endorsement
- New members may be required to be endorsed by an existing member in good standing, who can vouch for the applicant's suitability for membership.
6. Application Process:
- Must complete the membership application form in full, including a personal statement explaining why they wish to join the organization and how they can contribute to its mission.
- Provide samples of their environmental writing as part of the application process.
These criteria are designed to ensure that members of the "Environmental Writers of Australia" are committed, informed, and active contributors to the discourse on environmental issues within Australia and globally.
